Tancredi Amalfi Compact Italian Sofa Suite

Made in Italy, compact in size and ultra contemporary in appearance, the Tancredi Amalfi is a particularly clever sofa for rooms where every centimetre matters.

The first thing you notice is just how slim the arms are. Rather than using a large proportion of the overall width for bulky upholstery, the Amalfi gives that space back to the seating area. The result is a sofa that feels considerably more generous to sit on than its dimensions suggest.

The larger sofa measures just 176cm wide x 80cm deep, while the smaller sofa is only 135cm wide x 80cm deep. Together they make an unusually compact Italian sofa suite, particularly useful for apartments, smaller living rooms or properties where access and available floor space can be difficult.

The styling is distinctly modern. Tall individually shaped back cushions provide comfortable support and give the Amalfi its character, while the slim arms sweep gently outwards. Black metal legs raise the sofa away from the floor, creating the open, lightweight appearance associated with contemporary Italian furniture.

Our suite is upholstered in a light neutral fabric with a subtle woven texture. Up close the weave gives the material more depth than a plain fabric, while the understated colour makes it particularly easy to work into a modern interior.

Tancredi Salotti manufactures its upholstered furniture in Altamura, Italy, an area strongly associated with Italian sofa production. The company combines modern furniture design with traditional upholstery skills and Italian manufacturing.

For us, the real appeal of the Amalfi is its proportions. There are plenty of small sofas available, but considerably fewer that manage to be compact without looking compromised. At only 80cm deep, the Amalfi takes up remarkably little floor space while still looking and feeling like a proper sofa.
