Natuzzi Reports Mixed Global Results as European Market Pressure Grows
Italian designer sofa brand Natuzzi has reported a challenging financial year for 2024, revealing a 3 percent drop in global sales and a continued struggle in European markets, including the UK.
The company’s total net sales reached €318.8 million, down from €328.8 million the previous year, while net losses stood at €15.4 million, a slight improvement on 2023. Despite this, Natuzzi improved its gross margin to 36.3 percent, supported by a stronger focus on its branded business.
Natuzzi Italia and Natuzzi Editions now represent more than 92 percent of total revenue, underlining the enduring strength of the group’s Italian craftsmanship and reputation for high quality designer sofas. The brand’s continued emphasis on value, comfort, and contemporary design remains central to its strategy in a competitive global market.
Performance varied by region. North America recorded modest growth in upholstery and home furnishings, driven by the expanding Natuzzi Italia retail network. In contrast, sales in Western and Southern Europe, including the UK, fell by around 3.6 percent in 2024, with the first quarter of 2025 showing a sharper 13.6 percent decline as higher living costs and rising interest rates reduced big ticket spending.
Natuzzi has responded by restructuring its global operations, closing underperforming stores in Europe, consolidating production facilities, and shifting more manufacturing to Italy and other European sites following the closure of its Shanghai plant. The company has also reduced its global workforce by more than a quarter since 2019 as part of a long term plan to strengthen efficiency and profitability.
Despite the economic pressure, Natuzzi remains one of the world’s most recognised Italian furniture manufacturers. Its Natuzzi Editions collection continues to perform strongly, offering a mix of classic Italian style and comfort that appeals to design conscious buyers at a more accessible price point.
The company continues to invest in retail innovation and new gallery spaces, while reaffirming its focus on brand integrity and long term value over short term volume. Natuzzi’s craftsmanship, design heritage, and refined comfort continue to set the standard in Italian sofas and designer furnishings worldwide.
