Barker and Stonehouse is set to expand its presence in Norfolk with a new 12,000 square foot concept space inside the historic Jarrolds department store in Norwich. The launch, timed for December and aligned with the Winter Sale period, marks a significant collaboration between two long-established family-owned retailers.

The new area inside Jarrolds will present a curated mix of modern upholstery, dining furniture, bedroom collections and occasional pieces, with a strong focus on high-quality design and current interior trends. Both companies say the partnership reflects their shared approach to craftsmanship, customer service and long-term retail values.

James Barker, Managing Director at Barker and Stonehouse, said the move felt like a natural fit, noting that the two businesses have “very similar ethos and values” and that the collaboration opens the door for a richer, more diverse shopping experience for customers in the region.

Jarrolds, which recently received the 2024 Drapers Award for Best Independent Department Store, says the addition of Barker and Stonehouse supports its wider strategy of enhancing the store’s home and lifestyle offer. John Adams, Managing Director of Jarrolds’ retail division, commented that working with leading partners is key to maintaining the store’s reputation for a carefully selected and inspiring product range.

The space will showcase well-known names including English Heritage, Tetrad, Orla Kiely, Linwood × Barker and Stonehouse, Pure Home, Stressless and Relax & Recline Studio. The emphasis is on product quality, long-lasting materials and furniture designed for modern living, themes both retailers have been championing for decades.

With more than 200 years of retail heritage between them, Barker and Stonehouse and Jarrolds aim to create a destination that blends style, comfort and thoughtful curation. The opening is expected to draw strong footfall through the festive period and into the new year as shoppers look for fresh home-interior inspiration.
